Dr. Jinping CHENG is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Science and Environmental Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. Dr. Cheng received her PhD in Environmental Science from the City University of Hong Kong and is an affiliated principal investigator at the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution at her alma mater. Before her current position, she was a faculty member at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research at East China Normal University. Jinping’s research interests include particle-microbe interactions, environmental microbiomes, biofilm and biofouling, environmental DNA, ecotoxicology, and risk assessment studies, with an aim to promote environmental health through technological innovations. Jinping has published over 70 SCI research articles and filed five patents (including 2 US patents), with an H-index of 33. Her research as the principal investigator has been funded by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong SAR government's Environment and Conservation Fund, China's Natural Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education of China, the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, and more. She serves as the Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers in Marine Science and the Editor for Cambridge Prisms: Plastics and is also an editorial member for the journals Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology and Sustainable Horizons.
