Prof. Yulong Tan worked for Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (2013-2014), Medical University of Vienna (2015-2018), University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (2019-2020). Since 2021, he has been employed as a full professor at Qingdao Agricultural University. His research interest is food safety and antibiofilm efficacy of compound and biomaterial. Main findings in recent years are as follows: 1) revealed the underlying mechanism of the increased drug tolerance by stablishing a series of biofilm infection models, shedding lights on the development of new antibiofilm drugs; 2) identified a variety of natural products as antibiotic alternatives and dissected their functional mechanism, providing abundant resources for building a green antibacterial product library; and 3) developed a new type of dual-targeting nano-materials as drug carriers to target both biofilm matrix and microorganisms and improve drug efficacy, providing a new idea for solving the problem of biofilm related drug resistance. Dr. Tan presides over Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province grant for Distinguished Young Scholars (2023), and was awarded 2019 Top 10 leading Chinese Talents for Science and Technology in Europe and 2021 Young Taishan Scholar of Shandong Province. In addition, he participated in the 3rd and 4th International Conference on Biofilms as an invited speaker and session chair.
