Mahesh Premarathna is a Researcher at the Microbial Biotechnology Unit of the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS), Sri Lanka. He received his B.Sc. (Hons.) from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka in 2019 and joined NIFS in the same year. Presently, he is reading for his Ph.D. at University of Peradeniya. His research focuses on Microbial Biofilms and their Network Interactions, and his research interests include Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microfluidics, Soil carbon sequestration and mitigation of climate change, Astrobiology, and Philosophy. He has published several international peer reviewed journal articles by doing cross-disciplinary research on Agriculture, Ecosystems and Environment, and Medicine.
