Heema Vyas
The University of Sydney
Dr Vyas is an early career researcher (ECR) working in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Sydney. Heema is investigating the efficacy of Cold Atmospheric Plasma as an anti-biofilm strategy for the treatment of biofilm-infected chronic wounds. Prior to her Post-Doc, Heema completed her PhD in May 2021 at the University of Wollongong, where her PhD focused on understanding Group A Streptococcus biofilm formation in the context of recurrent GAS pharyngitis. Heema’s passion for microbiology has seen her serve as an executive committee member for the Australian Society for Microbiology NSW/ACT Branch (2021-Present). Moreover, her passion for Australian Biofilm research has recently seen Heema re-invigorate the ASM NSW/ACT Branch’s Biofilm Special Interest Group where she leads as the Convenor.
