Dr. Xi is a professor and director of Global Environmental Health program in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and also a co-director of the U-M-BICI Collaboratory since 2016. He is chair of the Board of Overseas Chinese Society for Microbiology, board member of Council of Public Health Consultants of NSF Internationals, and an editorial board member of Applied and Environmental Microbiology. His research focuses on biofilms, water quality and human health in three major inter-related areas.
